Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project will be undertaking controlled blasting activities along the project right-of-way. These activities will occur along an 84 kilometres long section of the approved right-of-way starting east of Kitimat to a point on the approved right-of-way approximately 16 kilometres north of Morice Lake. Blasting will be conducted daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. until the end of 2019, and will occur in areas where grading cannot be completed with conventional excavation techniques due to high concentrations of rock. All blasting will be done in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
While there will be no permanent road closures required as part of this activity, public access to the Coastal GasLink right-of-way and a surrounding safety zone will be restricted from approximately June 28 to December 31, 2019. The right-of-way does not intersect any major roads and no residences are located within 150 metres of the safety zone. Temporary restrictions to local forestry roads may also be required during blasting depending on the scope and location of work.
Updated monthly blasting schedules will be available at CoastalGasLink.com or at the Coastal GasLink construction office located at the proposed Kitimat Meter Station at meter 380 on the South Hirsch Forest Service Road.
It is not expected that these activities will result in any detectable sound or vibration beyond the immediate work area. Questions regarding these activities or general project construction can be directed via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone to 1-855-633-2011.
