Since we announced our project on June 5, 2012, the Coastal GasLink team has been in discussions with Aboriginal communities.
We believe that by developing positive relationships with the communities that may be affected by our project, we can achieve our respective and shared business and community interests.
Our team will ensure that Aboriginal communities are informed and have opportunities to provide input to the project.
We understand that First Nations in northern B.C. are facing many resource project proposals, and may require capacity funding to help them respond and participate in meaningful ways. Coastal GasLink will work with communities to understand their needs for capacity funding.
Moreover, we will work with First Nations to ensure that their traditional land uses and traditional ecological knowledge are considered in our environmental assessment and project planning.
