The Coastal GasLink Pipeline Project continues to undertake controlled blasting activities along the project right-of-way. These activities will occur near the Coastal GasLink Kitimat Meter Station to the East end of the project route through the Coastal Mountains (approximately 41 km east of Kitimat) and near the project’s Section 8 eastern end working West to the East end of Coastal GasLink’s route through the Coastal Mountains (approximately 16 km north of Morice Lake).
Blasting will be conducted daily between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. until the end of 2019, and will occur in areas where grading cannot be completed with conventional excavation techniques due to high concentrations of rock. All blasting will be done in accordance with provincial and federal regulations.
Updated monthly blasting schedules will be available at CoastalGasLink.com or at the Coastal GasLink construction office located at the proposed Kitimat Meter Station at meter 380 on the South Hirsch Forest Service Road. Find more information and a map below.
It is not expected that these activities will result in any detectable sound or vibration beyond the immediate work area. Questions regarding these activities or general project construction can be directed via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone to 1-855-633-2011.
