Studying the south of Houston alternate route
Our success relies on listening to views from local communities, incorporating their feedback where possible, taking care of the land, and being mindful of culturally and historically significant places. That’s why we responded to feedback from Wet’suwet’en leaders and conducted field work on the potential South of Houston Alternate Route. This route moves us even further away from cultural areas that are important to them.
Coastal GasLink has been given approval for the South of Houston Alternate Route by the Environmental Assessment Office. This approval comes on the heels of an extensive consultation process with local communities and Aboriginal groups over the past two years to identify an alternate route that further minimizes potential adverse effects on traditional and cultural land on a portion of the certified route.
Location of South of Houston Alternate Route
It starts about 21 km southwest of Burns Lake and ends 25 km south of Houston, B.C. It’s approximately 42 km long, and is about 3.5 km south of the approved route.
