This November, we release our final construction update that pays homage to all those who led with their values of safety and respect to complete construction of the 670-kilometre best in class pipeline, with one of the best safety records in the industry.
Today, TC Energy shared that the Coastal GasLink project safely reached mechanical completion on November 6, 2023, ahead of schedule. Mechanical completion represents another major milestone following the recent achievement of 100 per cent pipeline installation.
Coastal GasLink has achieved 100% pipe installation across the entire project route, connecting northeastern B.C. to LNG Canada’s facility on the west coast. This milestone means that all 670 kilometres of pipe has been welded, coated, lowered into the trench, rigorously tested, and backfilled.
Coastal GasLink achieves 98 per cent pipe installation.
While the project is quickly approaching mechanical completion at the end of 2023, there are a number of critical activities that the project team will continue to execute on.
Today, the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office (EAO) announced two administrative penalties. The first relates to erosion and sediment control (ESC) events that occurred prior to the Compliance Agreement we signed in July 2022, while the second is for an unintentional reporting error.
