Coastal GasLink responds to stop work order on 3-km stretch

Posted by Coastal GasLink

Coastal GasLink is committed to completing construction of this nationally important project in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.

Yesterday, we proactively paused work on a 3-km stretch of the project in Section 3, near the Little Anzac River, outside of Prince George, in advance of today’s order from the B.C. Environmental Assessment Office (EAO). We are also focused on preventing sediment from entering watercourses during this spring melt season, including areas identified in a notice from the B.C. Energy Regulator (BCER). We will continue to work with our regulators as we safely manage spring melt conditions and work activities during this critical time of the year.

Construction continues to safely progress where seasonal conditions allow across our project route, with most of the work focusing on erosion and sediment control measures. With high volumes of snow melt and rain this year, our crews are working hard to protect watercourses around us as seasons change.

Today, we announced that construction is now approximately 87 per cent complete and on track for completion by the end of this year. We recognize that the health of water bodies is vitally important to the surrounding communities and the ecosystem of the region. It is vitally important to us too.
